Although three teams are wearing standard Adidas designs, the smaller producers (Macron, Stanno, Pendle, Joma, Prostar and Uhlsport) are well represented at this level ensuring there is plenty of variety.

After the debacle with the Court of the Lord Lyon, Airdrie will sport a redesigned crest on their elegant, retro strips. The first choice is a deliberate evocation of the classic style worn by the original club. Sponsorship of the second shirt is subject to a prize draw: tickets cost a mere £350 and are limited to 50 per entrant. This approach has proved very effective for other Scottish clubs and has been adopted in England by Bristol Rovers. Unfortunately the new strips were not delivered in time for the start of the season so last season's Puma sets were used instead.

After playing in black shirts and white shorts (and not doing very well), Ayr have returned to their traditional look, complemented by a purple and white alternative. Once again the club see nothing wrong with promoting their new shirts by using a topless female model in body paint.

Designer: Joma

Sponsor: srjwindows.com

After the fine re-creation of the recurring candy-striped shirt worn last season, Dunfermline are wearing stripes of a more conventional width (Joma Copa) matched with white shorts, a combination that dates back to the 20s. The change strip is an intriguing shade that edges towards violet in Joma's Standard template.

The special kit is a tribute to the late Norrie McCathie, regarded as the Pars' finest ever player who died of carbon monoxide poisoning 20 years ago. It recreates the change strip McCathie wore in his last match for the team.
