18 December: New research has shed light on the status of members of the Scottish Second Division between 1915 and 1921. According to an account on the Dundee United Official Website, members resigned en masse in 1920 in protest at the refusal of the First Division clubs to approve the reinstatement of the Second Division, despite the fact that they had continued to pay subscriptions since it was suspended in 1915. The majority then joined the rebel Central League, which proved such a threat that it was incorporated the following season as the new Scottish Second Division. I have updated the history section of those clubs involved.
